Celebrating its 30th year, Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival returns to throw open the doors of the city in celebration of Glasgow’s architecture, culture and heritage. Wing Hong Chinese Elderly Centre will open their door on Friday 20th September for the first time in 30 years, and Ricefield team will support them by providing fun drop-in workshops and activity at their building (122 Hill Street, G3 6UA Glasgow).
Visit the Wing Hong Garden during Doors Open to see the vegetable garden, taste homemade herbal tea and learn about growing winter greens.
Come along to see our wide variety of vegetables growing in the garden including our Chinese Melons, Japanese Pumpkins and Sweetcorn. You'll have the chance to ask our community gardener questions about growing vegetables & herbs in Glasgow conditions.
We'll be hosting a Growing Winter Greens workshop (11am-1pm) where you can learn about vegetables you can sow now to harvest later this year, sow now for harvest in early Spring and growing micro-greens on your windowsill. (Booked ticket required)
There will be homemade herbal teas made fresh from herbs picked from the garden for you to enjoy.
In order for us to estimate the amount of tea and workshop kit (to ensure we have low waste) please book a ticket if you plan to come along and if you plan to join the workshop please answer Yes to 'Are you joining our growing workshop?' question.
