SCA Events - Edinburgh

Edinburgh branch programme, 2019-2020

Here are the details of the Edinburgh branch programme. All SCA members and friends are very welcome, and we look forward to seeing you.

As usual, our meetings will be at The Meeting House, 7 Victoria Terrace (just off the Lawnmarket), starting with tea and biscuits from 7pm; the talk will begin at 7:30. Please bring along friends who might be interested in joining us for the evening – or as members!

Tuesday, 15 October, Brian Holton will give a talk entitled “From the Dragon’s Mouth: A Life in Translation”. Brian is the author of Staunin Ma Lane and other translations of Chinese poetry, classical and contemporary, into Scots and English.

Our speaker on 19 November will be Dr Fan Wang,  assistant professor in the School of Energy, Geoscience, infrastructure and Society at Heriot-Watt University, who will be speaking about the new countryside communities being developed in China.

Note that our October and November meetings are on the third Tuesday of the month, rather than the usual second Tuesday, after which we will revert to our normal schedule.

Future dates: 19 November, 10 December, 14 January, 10 March, 14 April.
